Charles Williams, a color ed man about 25, is held at the police station on unprovoked assault charges after attacking Grace Carter 27 a stenographer for Enameled Products Co as she walked home at 730 pm Saturday. She was wounded by a knife slash to the side and taken to Memorial hospital. Williams was identified by Carter and captured on West Bridge street bridge. He denied the crime claiming to have been at a movie and was bound over to the grand jury on a $5000 bond.
