Jewell McGhee owner of the Red Fox Lounge 571 Broad St Elyria appeals the Ohio Division of Liquor Control ruling denying renewal of class D5 and D6 permits. The city opposed the renewals and a Nov 4 hearing led to the denial for public decency and orderly conduct concerns. McGhee filed Dec 22 with the Liquor Control Commission to plead the case in Franklin County before a three member panel.

Lodi Man Critical After Head-On Collision in Lorain County
A Lodi man, James G. Smith, 38, is in critical condition after a head on crash at the intersection of routes 82 and 83. He was southbound on Route 83 when his 1992 Ford F-150 collided with a northbound 1999 Ford Ranger. Smith was flown by helicopter to Cleveland Metro Health Medical Center. Two Lorain County men were injured in the same incident. The Ohio Highway Patrol provided details.
Elderly Couple Injured When Route 2 Car Rolls
A 74 year old woman and a 79 year old man were injured when a light brown Buick rolled over after veering from Route 2 at Baumhart Road. Both were pulled from the wreck while awake and talking. The woman was flown to Cleveland Metro Health Hospital and the man was airlifted. responders revived him after a brief loss of pulse.

Mom seeks judge over jury trial in child's death case
Alyson Sweany, charged with endangering a child in the death of her 3 year old son Jesse Crum Jr, will waive a jury trial in favor of a bench trial before Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Miraldi. Her attorney cites a belief in fairer treatment by a judge rather than a jury. Jesse died after helicopter transport to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland on March 12 from blunt head trauma, brain hemorrhages and pneumonia deemed caused by violence of undetermined origin. Also charged are Dallas and Therese Jones, parents of Sweany's boyfriend Peter Jones, who hanged himself in Amherst while awaiting sentencing on endangering children charges linked to a January 2009 bath scalding incident involving Jesse.

Coroner cites oxygen deprivation in teen’s death after dental surgery
Coroner officials say lack of oxygen to the brain may have killed 13 year old Marissa Kingery of Elyria after anesthesia during a December tooth extraction. She died at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital after two weeks on life support. The surgeon Henry Mazorow of Lorain referred the case to the Ohio State Dental Board, which will decide next actions.
