Jane P. Long nee Powell, 87, died December 23, 2008 at Kendal at Oberlin. A memorial service is set for January 17, 2009 at 2 PM at Kendal at Oberlin. Dicken Funeral Home of Elyria arranged the funeral.
Billy Ray Hall died. Born January 21 1942 in Kentucky he lived much of his life in Lorain and Milan Township. He is survived by his wife children and stepchildren and two great grandchildren. George Alexander Arnett 50 of Elyria died December 30 2008 after a long illness. Born June 5 1958 in Elaine Arkansas he worked as a truck driver and was a CDL graduate of Tri State School of Trucking. Survived by mother Lee Carlton daughters Leandra Josie Alexandria sons Andrew George Anthony Gabriel three grandchildren and siblings. Services January 9 2009 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church Elyria with Rev Harville and Pastor Gardener officiating. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery.

Police found live rounds and a broken pistol magazine at the scene after a burglary of Gas USA. Alesha Tovar, 21, carried 60 unopened packs of Newport cigarettes and an unopened carton. Herbert Lewis III, 23, had a 9mm pistol with a broken magazine during a later stop. he faces prior burglary and vandalism charges.
Mike Bass Ford in Elyria is named the top Ford dealer in Ohio for the second year, beating Ricart Ford of Columbus by a narrow margin. Boss Jim Bass and staff credit customer care, pricing, and niche-market strategy including Taurus X sales. Ricart had held the title for two decades.
In Jackson County Ohio a 4 year old boy retrieved a shotgun from a bedroom closet and shot 18 year old Nathan Beavers and another teen while babysitting several children in a mobile home. Beavers and a teen were wounded with pellets. The sheriff investigates. the child is not charged.

Police say Eichenlaub backed into a pickup at a red light and his cruiser skidded. A court case was dismissed but he was ordered to complete counseling after a departmental hearing. He later hit another cruiser in July 2007 and received driving training and counseling.
