An elderly Vermilion woman, Doris L. Hughes, 72, died in a car truck collision at the West Leake Road Adams Street intersection. She stopped for a stop sign and was struck broadside by a tractor trailer driven by Vernon Mackey, 59, of Dearborn Michigan. Mackey was uninjured. The death occurred at 4 22 p m and the scene was under investigation by Vermilion police and Erie County Coroner Dr. Richard Blackann.
