Ground breaking yesterday for the first cottage in the Elyria Home for the Aged Cottage Development Plan. The unit will be a memorial to Samuel Austin of Willoughby with a rent of 10 to 15 dollars monthly. The project aims to provide a private, non institutional retirement option with access to institutional care when needed. The ceremony included Rev Wager Rev Meister and trustees and the unit is slated for completion by Mothers Day May 9 and dedication by Bishop McDowell.

Elyrians learn from a New York dispatch that 31 rolling kitchens built by Fox Furnace Co. Elyria Ohio for the U S war department were sold as surplus after World War I. The crates bore marks including Fox Furnace Elyria and Liberty rolling kitchen U S No 72 and were shipped aboard the Mar Cantabrico to Spain, then seized by Red forces during the Spanish Civil War era.
