Ford to Cut Avon Lake Plant Shifts to One by Spring
Union official Don Schnur says Ford may reduce Avon Lake Ohio Assembly Plant from three shifts to one starting March 19 as Nissan quota changes and weak sales push the move. The plan could bring layoffs. workers may enter training pools or transfer to day shift while some will be idle two weeks amid plant shutdowns. Ford reports volume reduction with 600 affected as Villager and Quest production ends by 2003.
