PBS Paring Down Season Roster From 84 Shows
In late February PBS stations will tell the Public Broadcasting Service which of 84 proposed shows to fund next season under the station program cooperative plan. The final round will trim the catalogue, which had 84 titles costing about 42 million dollars, down from 200+ proposals. New York’s WNET leads with public affairs and culture, Boston’s WGBH offers a mixed slate, and KCET in Los Angeles adds a serious lineup including The Age of Anxiety hosted by John Kenneth Galbraith. WTTW Chicago ranges from Soundstage to a consumer car series, and a notable entry is The Best of Ernie Kovacs.
