Snow Causes Slips And Slides In Elyria Traffic Troubles
Snow and ice tied up Elyria area roads Thursday with slippery conditions as patrolman Gregg Drake lost control on Infirmary Road while pursuing two prisoners. Drake struck a car driven by Kathleen Grella, 43, of Grafton, who was treated and released. Three prisoners received medical checks after separate ambulance transports to EMH Regional Medical Center. Lt. Dan Jaykel said the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed. The storm also caused a teenage girl accident at Fosier Road and snow still blanketed the county.

Body of missing man pulled from Black River
The body of 47 year old Edgar Ortiz was found Thursday morning hung on a tree limb in Cascade Park’s Black River after being missing since early November. Lorain County Coroner Paul Matus had not yet ruled the cause of death. Police described the scene as a partial submersion with no immediate foul play indicated. Edwin Ortiz had alerted The Chronicle Telegram in December about his uncle’s disappearance.
