WV Penitentiary Hostage Crisis Ends With Amnesty Deal

In Rampage Moundsville WV inmates who held 16 hostages for nearly three days freed the last seven as state control of the 120 year old prison was restored. The settlement promises amnesty and a meeting with Gov Arch Moore to discuss grievances amid reports of two prisoner deaths.

Inmates destroyed much of a main building and hospital drug dispensary during a rampage at a state prison. Six of thirteen hostages were freed after a negotiated settlement, with officials hopeful for a peaceful end. Continental Cablevision to adjust Elyria rates Apr 1

Continental Cablevision will raise basic 30 channel service 10 percent from 9.50 to 10.45 starting April 1 for Elyria and nearby townships. Reconnection fees drop from 14 to 9.95, additional outlets fall from 4.15 to 2.75, and digital remote converters decrease from 2.75 to 2.45 monthly. A wireless remote will cost 2.95 later this year while other prices stay the same.
