Lorain district wins $80,000 from county in funding aid
Lorain Soil and Water Conservation District will receive 80 000 from county commissioners to cover day to day operations and salaries for the rest of the year with state matching funds filling the gap. District administrator Nancy Funni noted the agency faced cuts in 2007 and warned closures without the grant. The district serves Lorain County by handling soil and water conservation, aiding the county engineer and other agencies, and advising landowners. Also approved was a 15 000 lead grant to Elyria Kiwanis for a new Safety Town project costing about 122 000, with a target completion by 2009 and social partners urged to contribute.
