Reichlin Pushes City Hall Plans To Council
Mayor Leonard P Reichlin announced he will ask the city council in about a month to begin planning a new city hall. He outlined alternatives including a private enterprise building leased to the city to avoid a bond issue, while other options such as bonds would require council discussion. The plan envisions a central complex consolidating operations from the Town Hall Turner Block Ely Building and other downtown offices. Reichlin said he does not want city involvement to delay other projects like Malcolm Manor downtown renewal and the maintenance garage until these are near completion.
