Dentist who aided draft evasion sentenced to prison
Dr. Bernard Bender of Woodland Hills was convicted of conspiracy and aiding draft evasion after fitting unneeded braces to young men to claim medical exemptions. He received 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine, with a 90 day psychiatric exam possible to adjust sentence.

Drinks to drinks could lead to court
The First District Court of Appeals ruled a bartender can be sued for damages for serving an intoxicated patron who then harms others. Judge Shannon reversed a lower court dismissal and remanded for trial. Evidence showed Michael Roche, 24, entered a Cincinnati lounge intoxicated, threatened others, and after continued service killed William Taggart Jr. and wounded Lloyd Hayes.
