EU launches sanctions on US goods over WTO ruling
In Brussels the European Union will impose millions of dollars in sanctions on US goods starting Monday after Washington failed to end export tax breaks ruled illegal by the World Trade Organization. Commission spokesman Diego de Ojeda said the measures are automatic and meant to pressure Congress while limiting disruption to European firms and shoppers. The WTO authorized up to $4 billion in sanctions, the largest such amount.
