Jim Warner rolled a 692 series the best of the season at the Bowing Center as the Moose Club defeated Elyria Hardware. The victory pulled Moose within one game of first place while General Industries doubled up Home Tavern. Warner opened with a 247 game.
Jersey Joe Walcott gave in to Joe Louis's ultimatum and agreed to return under terms set for the heavyweight title rematch. Louis warned Walcott to sign within two weeks or face dismissal from the bid. the confrontation followed their first meeting in December. Pennock, a star pitcher for the Yankees, died Jan 30 while at a NL meeting. he received 94 votes to lead the ballot. Traynor, a premier third baseman with Pittsburgh, drawn 93 votes. Al Simmons also received 60 votes but fell short of the 75 percent threshold.

The county tournament semifinals follow with Eaton vs Brookside and Henrietta vs South Amherst, while Clearview, not a Lorain County B member, is out of the championship lineup after qualifying. The consolation final and championship are set for Saturday evening.
