Bill to raise unvoted bond limit for Lorain County
Lorain County seeks higher unvoted debt authority as a bill would lift the limit by about 75 percent. Commissioner Ludwig M Pineura said the measure, discussed at a Columbus meeting requested by Stark County, would raise Lorain’s borrowing cap from 4.25 million to 7.247 million dollars based on the county’s 850 million valuation. County has issued 1.144 million in unvoted bonds leaving 3.106 million available under current law. Even with approval, funding for retiring the bonds remains uncertain without additional legislation.

Armed robbers hit Elyria tavern on Blake Street
Three to four men robbed Ron's Tavern at 9 35 last night taking about 75 dollars from owner Rose Bates and patrons. A fourth man waited outside and one thief fired a pellet gun at Ronald Bates, who chased the group. a cut on his leg resulted. General Motors informs owners of 4.8 million GM cars and trucks to take action in the industry’s largest recall. Affected are 1968 and 1969 Chevrolets Pontiacs Oldsmobiles Buicks and Cadillacs with quadrajet carburetors plus 24 million Chevrolets through 1968 for tail pipe area inspection and service. Since 1966 GM has recalled 2.7 million vehicles with a small fraction flagged for defects.
