Motorcyclist dies in Route 113 crash near West Ridge
Darrell Getty, 62, of Elyria, died Friday night after his 2002 Harley-Davidson left Route 113 near West Ridge Road, struck a guardrail, and was thrown from the bike. He was not wearing a helmet. Life Flight and medics responded. Getty was pronounced dead at the scene after about 45 minutes of efforts. Troopers investigated the loss of control and pursuit of witnesses to determine how the crash occurred.

Former county group homes go on market in Oberlin
Oberlin two houses once used as group homes for adults with developmental disabilities are for sale. One is owned by the Oberlin Historical Society, the other by Lorain County. The Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities faced a 2016 deadline to stop direct services to avoid conflicts with administration of services. The five homes held 42 beds across Oberlin Elyria and Grafton. Oberlin and a county Elyria property are for sale while Our Lady of the Wayside runs a larger Elyria facility. The Grafton home, smallest with four beds, was converted to supportive housing.
