Lear division wins safety trophy again at Lorain County council

The Lorain County Industrial Council awarded Lear s Romeo Division its safety trophy for 1953, marking a second consecutive year atop the contest with 790 045 man hours worked without a lost time injury. Republic Steel Steel Tube Division was runner up with 528 192 hours. Harold Andrus accepted for Romeo. Richard Stith presided for the council. Woman Fatally Injured By Auto Near Norwalk

A 32-year-old Akron woman Louise Fields died at Norwalk Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car on Route 20 eight miles east of Norwalk. Police say she walked into the path of the vehicle driven by 18-year-old John W. Benes of Wakeman. Her husband Arthur Fields, 43, was arrested earlier by state police for having an open bottle and is held in Huron County jail.

Pork Stolen From Prison Farm Slaughter House

Two burglaries were reported near noon today. At the Grafton Prison Farm slaughter house 300 pounds of pork were taken. the other burglary was at the Lorain County Fish and Game Association on North Ridge road with few details given. Deputies were assigned to investigate both cases.
