GOP governors split on Obama stimulus at NGA meeting
At the National Governors Association gathering, southern governors led by Bobby Jindal Haley Barbour and Mark Sanford criticized Obama's 787 billion stimulus plan while coastal moderates like Charlie Crist and Arnold Schwarzenegger backed it. Tim Pawlenty urged modernization and inclusion while attending the White House dinner with Obama. Sanford criticized the plan yet left open a possible 2012 bid, warning against flawed policy even as he acknowledged bipartisan stakes.
