Mass sterilizations in Virginia not to be repeated official says
A Virginia cabinet member said mass sterilizations at a Lynchburg mental hospital under a 1924 law affected at least 4,427 people before the practice was banned eight years ago. Secretary of Human Resources Jean Harris stressed it cannot be reversed and pledged prevention of future such acts. The Lynchburg Training School and Hospital, the nation’s largest mental health facility at the time, housed about 2,000 patients.

Sex Study Finds Teen Boys Seek Adults Not Benefits
In Bellingham a Western Washington State College psychologist reports that more than half of teens have intercourse to feel adult, yet the data show no self concept gains. The two-year study of 273 local sophomores and juniors finds sex linked to riskier behavior, lower school interest, and greater drug and alcohol use. By junior and senior years 58 percent of both genders had had intercourse with boys citing physical drive, while girls emphasized love or marriage thoughts.
