Brown seeks federal help for programs in Ohio
U S Rep Sherrod Brown announced support for the State Budget Relief Act of 2003 to provide nine billion dollars in extra federal funding for states including four hundred seventy seven million for Ohio over the next year for Medicaid. He urged federal aid to cover enrollment and drug-cost spikes while criticizing Gov Tafts plan to cut health funding. Brown spoke at a Lorain County Human Service Office news conference and noted no vote timeline. He argued Medicaid costs grow slower than private insurance and warned against reducing enrollees. Local residents like Shirley Kuepfer urged relief given their child’s disability care needs.
