Elyria firefighter leader Mark Horton killed in crash
Mark Horton 64, Sheffield Township trustee and former Elyria Fire Department member, known for dedication to family community and labor causes, died Feb 12 in a head-on crash with Cody Wallace 21 of New London on Route 58. Wallace also died. police say he veered left of center and appeared impaired. Funeral with firefighter honors drew hundreds at Elyria Catholic High School.

Fugitive Devante Gibbs Named Inrape and Kidnapping Case
US Marshals seek rapist fugitive Devante Gibbs who vanished as a Lorain County jury found him guilty of rape kidnapping child endangerment and felonious assault. Capt Thomas says Gibbs was located in California near a relative’s home with no more details released until Monday. Gibbs disappeared February 10 while the jury deliberated outside Lorain County Common Pleas Court and a judge revoked his bond.
