A flood of tear gas failed to stop three armed bandits from taking 1500 dollars from the Mi ami Deposit Bank in Yellow Springs Ohio. The thieves forced employees and a customer into a vault, then escaped in an old auto toward Springfield. a citizen posse found no trace.

Manslaughter case given to jury in Rundle death

The trial of Ben Tomasheski for involuntary manslaughter in the death of deputy sheriff James Rundle was submitted to the jury before a noontime recess. Prosecutor Don W. Myers argued reckless driving by the defendant in a car full of youths on the December 29 incident on the Cleveland road near Ridgeville. The case is before Judge A R Webber.

Ironton Man Named Acting Secretary of State Board

Ironton man Lewis E. Hailey was appointed acting secretary of the state board of real estate examiners by Commerce Director Theodore H. Tangeman. Hailey, 34, has been clerk of Lawrence county board of elections for three years and served on Ironton city council in 1923-24. He attended Ohio State University in 1916 and 1917. Salary is $4,000 a year.

Treasurer Reports January Tax Collections Slightly Down

County Treasurer N. D. Backus announced January tax collections totaled 2,860,434.60, about 32,000 less than last year. He called the figure exceptionally good given current financial conditions and noted the compilation was released today.

Bank Robbery In Cedarvale Seizes $7,100 Cash Bonds

Two Cedarvale men were forced to help rob the Citizens National Bank after being kidnapped by two armed bandits. The thieves escaped with 7100 dollars and 15000 dollars in Liberty Bonds, halting Missouri Pacific telegraph traffic. A telegraph operator was abducted earlier and shot in the hand before being driven toward Cedarvale.

Medina Executives to Attend Foremen Club Meet

Chest Clinic Examined At Elyria Memorial Hospital

Thirty persons were examined today at the February chest clinic held at Elyria Memorial hospital under the Lorain County Public Health Council. Dr. E. P. Edwards, chief of the tuberculosis bureau of Cleveland, donated his services. Assisting were Nurse Kathryn Fulton and Miss Ruth Paddock of Oberlin.

French Naval Budget Passed by Chamber of Deputies

Paris February 19 The French naval budget totaling 2 856 511 533 francs about 114 260 461 dollars was approved by the Chamber of Deputies after a three hour debate. Minister of Marine Charles DuMont said the navy guarantees security and colonial integrity and a modern fleet is needed. Britain’s bid to delay France’s program failed as the rejection vote stood 450 to 158 with a small minority opposing the larger increase.
