UN jurists prepare Tehran probe into shah corruption

A five member commission created by UN Secretary General Waldheim to probe Iranian corruption under the deposed shah could depart for Tehran as early as Tuesday. The panel aims to aid the release of 50 American hostages in Tehran, with Iran to approve the jurists. The secretary general announced the panel's composition and sent word to Washington and Tehran awaiting official acceptance.

Murder charge for Lorain man in steak house slaying

Elmo Morton 37 of 1366 Ashland Ave surrendered after a late Sunday shooting at American Legion Post 30. He allegedly waited in a car and shot Donald Burge 44 as he walked from the hall at 1112 Wine Ave. Burge died at Lorain Community Hospital from a heart wound. Bond set at 200000. Morton employed by Ford Motor Co with no prior record. Witnesses say Morton sped away after the shot. a woman tried to stop him. The case is Lorain’s first homicide of the year.
