Cold Wave Closes Area Schools as Bus Stuck in Snow

In a record winter cold snap, temperatures fell to zero for the fourth straight day. Midview Local School District students, about 50, were stranded after their bus bogged in a five foot snowdrift on Island Road until after 7 p.m. today. Foundry Fire Damages Elyria Plant In Warren Area

A two alarm fire at the Elyria Foundry No 1 and core room in Brook Park near King and in Warren caused glass and wooden damage to the monitor structure and nearby floors. Fire Destroyed Three Storefronts In Logan Ohio

A blaze driven by strong winds leveled three two story business buildings in Logan Ohio’s central business district early today. Damage was set at 500000 with assistance from four nearby fire departments and a Nelsonville civil defense unit. The J C Penney Store cited as the first report, was extinguished after 12:30 am. Cause remained undetermined by Fire Chief C J Hysell.
