Casterland New York February 18. William Bell of Utica engineer and Richard Quinn of Ogdensburg fireman were instantly killed when passenger train No 59 from New York to Watertown collided head on with a Utica bound freight near the station. Three mail clerks and several passengers were slightly injured. The passenger locomotive was demolished and New York Central officials from the St Lawrence division offices in Watertown are conducting an investigation.
London dispatch reports nine killed and fifteen wounded in a riot in Voronesh south Russia. Police fired on a frantic crowd to quell the disturbance as martial law was declared. the cause of the riot was not learned.
Bandits looted the City Oil Service Station at Madison Avenue and Berea Road early today, stealing $180 after knocking Robert Dean unconscious. The same station had been robbed last November.
The coroner's office opened an inquiry into the death of Clyde McMahon a 16 year old youth who died suddenly at 6 30 this morning in Cleveland.
In Tia Juana four of seven men accused of assaulting Audrey and Clyde Petech, the two American girls who died, remain jailed under guard. Led by Llanas, ex police chief, the group includes Amador and Alvarez, with Gonzales held for concealing the crime. The court ordered release of three others. Maximum penalty for the four is 14 years, potentially death if applied. Trial date not set and defendants may hire attorneys. proceedings expected in Tla Juana within weeks.
