Egypt carries out air strikes in Libya over Christian beheadings
Egypt bombed Islamic State militants in eastern Libya and pressed the United States and Europe for coordinated international action after extremists released a video showing 21 Egyptian Christians beheaded. Cairo said targets included weapons caches and training camps as it expands its role in Libyan turmoil. The administration sought UN and Western backing while Libyan factions struggle for control amid the rising Islamist threat.
