Borders files for bankruptcy as stores close nationwide
Borders filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Wednesday, announcing plans to shutter about 200 of its 642 stores from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale, costing roughly 6,000 of its 19,500 employees. The move follows years of lag in e commerce and digital books, weakening publishers and rival Barnes & Noble.

Sanofi-Aventis to Acquire Genzyme for 20.1 Billion
Paris based Sanofi-Aventis SA agreed to buy Genzyme Corp in an all cash 20.1 billion deal after months of talks. The boards approved the takeover which is expected to close in early Q2. Viehbacher said the move boosts US presence and biotechnology growth for Sanofi. Genzyme’s Henri Termeer had resisted prior offers.
