Bears moved to Cascade Park in 1920 transfer plan
The Chronicle Telegram recounts a 1920 effort to move two large bears from Riverview to Cascade Park. Firemen and police employed a reinforced transfer box, lured the beasts with candy after initial refusals, and ferried them to the new park where they swam in a new pool and settled in. The piece also recalls 1920 city life with census figures, horse-drawn deliveries, and prior public notices.
