Only the Ball Was White PBS documentary on black baseball
PBS presents a half hour special on the Negro leagues with Paul Winfield narration. The program recalls the Pittsburgh Crawfords, Homestead Grays, Kansas City Monarchs, and Philadelphia Stars and questions the limits of television historical study. It centers on Josh Gibson and Buck Leonard among others, but errs in identifications and data, and fails to explain league operations or verify batting records.
