Avon officials report the city is in sound financial condition with a 1972 General Fund balance of 520,000 due to under spending and higher than expected income tax. Street fund closed 1972 with 518,000. capital improvements 516,000 with 8,000 for North gate plant and 10,000 for resurfacing. Federal Revenue Sharing adds about 540,000 in 1973. taxes rise 11 mills after adjustments. Mentor man to be tried on slaying
A pre trial hearing resumed in Trumbull County Court for Howard Thomas Hoffman II, a Mentor man charged with murdering his parents in their Mentor home after a fire and gunshots were reported. Hoffman is scheduled to stand trial in two weeks.
