Pollution drop in Lorain County ballast improves year

Two JVS Students Seriously Injured in Crash
Two JVS students were badly hurt in a two vehicle crash after school Wednesday. Joshua Harrison, 17, of Mechanic Street Graf ton, and Andrew Pickworth, 16, of Whitehead Road LaGrange, were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland in stable condition. Troopers reported head and facial injuries. Bradley Lacko, 16, of South Whitehead Road LaGrange, had minor injuries treated at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. at Hallover and Hughes roads as Pickworth and Lacko traveled east.

Halfway house plan in Lorain withdrawn after opposition
LORAIN The Volunteers of America pulled a proposal to run a 54 prisoner halfway house in the old Saxon Club near Broadway after Ward Councilman Ruben Torres and Mayor Joseph Koziura voiced strong objections. The plan was to go before the Planning Commission Wednesday but was withdrawn by Dennis Kresak Tuesday. Koziura said he opposed the project and warned of zoning obstacles.

Sex charges dropped against minister in abuse case
Retired minister Artie Napier Sr. faced five counts of rape and sexual battery for sex with a teenage girl in 1985 86. A Common Pleas judge dismissed the charges after ruling the victim delayed reporting. Parents also faced complicity counts. their charges were dismissed.
