Weather hazards cause a chaotic morning with numerous fender benders across Huron and Erie counties. A 16 car pileup near Sawmill Creek Resort blocked Cleveland Road in Huron briefly but no injuries were reported. Meteorologist Tom King cited warm air aloft and cold surface conditions as the cause. He predicted a warm up to rain today with remaining drizzle or flurries possible after midnight as temperatures dip to 25 to 30 degrees. The next two days should bring improving conditions with mid 30s Thursday and upper 30s Friday and no snow or rain expected. The disruption affected road crews and travelers alike.

Jeff Ergh and Bob Schoerwerth faced slick roads in Elyria while delivering for Northwest Vending. Schoerwerth, serving Oberlin, Wellington, LaGrange and Norwalk, noted deliveries normally take seven to eight hours but would stretch to nine or ten. He traveled 25 to 85 mph in places, well below his usual 45 to 55 mph. Ergh entered Murray Ridge Center around 6 30 am, found the parking lot fine, and returned to find it iced over after about 15 minutes as the day wore on people crept along.
