Landis and chain store ball leaders end to temporary truce
United Press reports a four hour meeting at the Belleview Biltmore yields a temporary truce between Commissioner Landis and chain store operators led by Larry MacPhail and Sam Breadon. A new amendment will protect players in farm systems, limiting options and time under club control, with a mail vote to follow. The change targets primarily minor league players and would reduce incentives for protracted ownership of players in the chain system. A separate ruling eliminates the six forty rule in scoring, ending a prior method for recognizing sacrifices.
