Snowmobile trespass sparks farmer frustration and safety fears

A Lorain County farmer reports $1,000 in winter crop damage from snowmobiles and four wheelers drifting onto his land. Deputies say responses are hampered by suspects riding at night and unknown locations, with owners sometimes found to be trespassing on their own property. Farmers install fences and cameras while seeking arrests, tickets, and reparations through police work.

Sheffield district faces cuts over levy and sports funding

Levy supporters say 76 percent of funds cover salaries and benefits, one of the district's lowest shares in Lorain County. If passed, the 6.53 mill levy would raise about $1.985 million annually, costing $227.50 more yearly for a $100,000 home. Officials warn Tier 2 cuts would devastate programs, with transportation unchanged. Community members argue for funding as a community value and seek state support to avoid further losses.
