Quick Action Saves Girl From Drowning Tragedy
Eight month old Sally Jo Dicken, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harold Dicken of the Dicken Funeral Home in Elyria, nearly drowned when her bath was interrupted. Her mother found her unconscious in three inches of water and, with help from Ted Laundon, performed resuscitation before Elyria Memorial Hospital staff administered oxygen. The belt catch released accidentally, dropping the child into the bath.

Patrick Crehan Retired Officer Dies in Chicago
Patrick James Crehan 72 a former Elyria police officer from 1909 to 1943 died Sunday in Chicago where he lived with daughter Ruth Lane. He previously worked as a conductor on the Cleveland Southwestern Electric line. Born in Kipton he was a parishioner of St Marys church. Survived by daughter Ruth Lane and son William John Crehan of Chicago five grandchildren several siblings. Body at Welsh Burtepe home. He had run away September 30 last year and used an eight foot square space as a home. The youth faced charges for a series of robberies and auto thefts. He kept warm with a gas heater and slept on makeshift bedding. He admitted living there on the proceeds of his crimes and spent time reading comics bowling playing pool and watching wrestling. He had ten pennies when arrested.
