U S Navy Bomber Shot Down Over Island Near Tachen

U S Navy Skyraider was downed by Communist anti aircraft while mis navigating near a RedChina held island off Formosa. Four Americans were rescued and later transferred to the carrier Wasp. The incident came as the 7th Fleet prepared to intensify patrols to safeguard evacuation of the Tachen islands.

State Road Program Submitted for Legislature

The State Highway Construction Council submitted a 360 million dollar two year road program to the Legislature. Gov. Lausche endorsed the plan, with 250 million in highway bonds needing legislative approval. The package includes 163 projects, 40 in cities and 193 rural, totalling 128.5 million.

Corrigan Takes Plea to Ohio Supreme Court

Attorney William J. Corrigan said he will take his appeal directly to the Ohio Supreme Court after the Cuyahoga County Court of Appeals denied a motion to certify the bail question.
