Ohio Supreme Court upholds Toledo clinic closure ruling
The Ohio Supreme Court ruled 5-2 that the Ohio Department of Health could revoke Capital Care of Toledo’s license and close the Toledo abortion clinic. It also found Preterm of Cleveland lacked standing to challenge 2013 budget abortion restrictions. Chief Justice O Connor dissented, arguing capital care complied with transfer rules but 2013 budget provisions required local hospital partners. University of Toledo Hospital terminated its transfer agreement with Capital Care about two years ago.
