Elyria BLOTTER reports theft and multiple arrests downtown

Elyria police blotter entries for Friday February 4 include theft of clothing glass bowls tattoo supplies and $1200 from a Broad Street business. A 17 year old male was charged with assault at Prospect Street. Charles Craige 28 was arrested on two warrants. Early Saturday February 5 a 17 year old was charged with assault on a peace officer disorderly conduct and assault near Lake Avenue.

Stolen items and arrest charge in Lorain incident

At 3:12 p.m. in the 4200 block Pearl Street a handgun was reported stolen. At 4:50 p.m. a 46 inch television was stolen from a home on Euclid Avenue. At 6:07 p.m. a vehicle title was stolen from a residence on West 22nd Street. At 7:00 p.m. on North Danley Square Jason K. Sewell of Lorain, 25, was charged with obstructing official business drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after resisting arrest and underage consumption.

Copper pipes stolen from city rehab home on West River Road

A city owned home on West River Road North being rehabbed with federal funds was broken into Thursday night. Police say copper piping was stolen from the kitchen bathroom and hot water tank and the furnace damaged while burglars attempted to remove an air conditioning coil. The break-in occurred between 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.

Ice sculptures draw crowd to downtown winter festival

Rah estimated several thousand attended the daylong event despite no official count. About 36 merchant sponsored ice sculptures rose around 9 a.m. by Elegant Ice Creations designer Aaron Costic, featuring a eye chart, scuba diver and lighthouse. Horse drawn rides and Jolly the Snowman completed the celebration with hot cocoa and cider as sculptures remain on view at Liberty Park until melting.

Snowy Elyria sees pileups and slick roads across city

A snow afternoon in Elyria led to more than two dozen calls with few crashes. State Route 2 saw three minor accidents near the Route 57 exit as Elyria Police handled several incidents.
