NASA space plastics may boost contact lens oxygen ease

NASA Langley and Paragon Vision Sciences work on space produced plastics aims to create a more oxygen permeable polymer for contact lenses. The project, part of a space commercialization effort, blends zero gravity processing with novel stirrer tech to form polymers with uniform density.

Miner dies after heart attack during rescue at Wyoming mine

GREEN RIVER WY AP The second of two miners missing almost two days 1600 feet underground suffered a heart attack as rescuers moved him toward the surface. Mike Anderson 26 died three hours later in a hospital after being found conscious with a head injury. Dan Jereb 28 was found Saturday night conscious but disoriented. Fifty-five miners were in the Solvay Minerals mine when the quake hit. Nine sustained minor injuries. Rescue efforts were slowed by ventilation repairs after the 5.4 magnitude earthquake. Trona production in Sweetwater County is among the nation's highest.
