In a Manhattan subway during rush hour an undercover Transit Authority officer pursued a fare evader. A knife attack escalated and an exchange of gunfire left 18 year old Carmen Orsini of Brooklyn fatally wounded. The assailant, Herbert Cochado, survived after being shot.
