Elyria Council Overturns Mayor on Schaden Road Issue
Elyria City Council voted to vacate a 1725 acre Schaden Road area along the B and O tracks to allow Milan Steel Corp to build a new fabricating plant. Mayor Reichlin had vetoed it but council overturned at his request after receiving a letter from attorney L K Ashenbach. Ashenbach said Milan Steel would deed land currently used for sewer and water lines and would fund storm sewer, paving and sewer connections if the city clears the right of way. The decision includes plans for a future east west connector with Lake Avenue and Rt 57. In other business, the council rezoned 92 acres annexed from Carlisle township from residential to city A 1A. The site lies along Abbe Road north of Chestnut Ridge Road.
