Two Children Die In Weekend Drowning Incidents
Funeral services were held for nine year old Richard Reed who drowned in the Black River near Frankcourt after noon Saturday. Patricia Toy aged three, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Toy of Avon, drowned at 5 55 p m Tuesday in an old basement excavation near her home. Rescue efforts involved local firemen, police, and residents aided by grappling hooks, with Richard pronounced dead at Elyria Memorial Hospital 30 minutes after first sighting. Little Christina Krueck was sent home from Oberlin’s Al- Ten Hospital where she had been confined since last Wednesday morning. The fifteen month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Krueck swallowed a small amount of brush cleaning material containing carbon tetrachloride. She is out of danger and will be kept quiet at home. Her mother Lois Dellefield, formerly of Elyna, is noted.

County commissioners passed a resolution asking the state civil service commission to arrange for an examination for county welfare director and for welfare case workers and investigators. The current director list is about two years old and not certified to the present board. The exam would fill the vacancy created by Flora Shaw's May 1 retirement and there is no eligible list for case workers or investigators. Miss Agnes Sullivan, 65, active in the Order of Eastern Star, died at her Marietta home yesterday.

Fire blamed on defective chimney damages in Ohio home
Fire chief L R Hadaway blamed a defective chimney for a blaze at the home of Mrs Florence Terrell of Cleveland. About 1,500 dollars in damage. MANDEVILLE La Don Wiltse an 18 year old volunteer worker from Medrose Park IL drowned Sunday after rescuing four small boys when a skiff overturned in a bayou at Fontaine Bleau state park. He kept the boys afloat until he could not hold on.
