Sheriff Underhill and deputies arrested three men in Oberlin for driving overloaded trucks in Loraine County. E W Jutras Doty Gilbert Krause Deiphos and Hunter Toleflo were charged and pleaded guilty. They were fined 25 plus costs in early morning court before Mayor Henry Smith. The incident occurred amid a tense political debate about Harding's renomination.

The treaty omits aircraft and Prime Minister Mackenzie King, who discussed the matter with Secretary Hughes, is reportedly troubled by air force concentration near Selfridge Field Michigan.
Police name Germaine Berton a cool killer after she shoots Marius Pelatau of Action Française staff. She says she acted on orders from a secret council to kill. Leon Daudet, leader of the royalist party, was target but Pelatau died.
Two patrolmen were killed instantly and two others gravely injured when a police touring car, speeding to a holdup scene, skidded on ice and crashed into a brick building. The building collapsed, burying the vehicle under bricks and mortar. The dead were Patrolmen William Wilson and Earl Hackett. Hessie and Kastohryz were in critical condition.
Ohio Public Service Co notified city council last evening it is ready to begin installing the plea lighting system in the area between Second and Eighth streets bounded by the rivers. Council voted to proceed with the entire system as planned as soon as feasible. Mrs Friday urged avoiding a blanket order to skip unnecessary lights shown on the blue print in remote parts of the city to save expenses.
Lorain, Feb. 6. Mayor Grail denounces the new jitney ordinance as a scrap of paper and declares it illegal. He notes it was passed over his veto and as an emergency measure when no emergency existed.
A frame shed at the Elyria Iron & Steel Co plant caught fire around 9 p.m. from an unknown cause. The fire department arrived with an engine and ladder truck but the building was too far gone and allowed to burn. The loss is reported as small since it was an old, unsound structure.
Feb 6 Steubenville indictments charge extortion and fraud against P W Bouzner and Michael Stillwell trustees in a probe into irregularities. Six months budget, extensive testimony, and county/state examiners described alleged extravagant use of funds over several years. The case also names William A Clifton road supervisor with two extortion counts tied to township finances.
The city council last evening created a filtration superintendent job with a 2700 salary, plus an assistant chief engineer at 2049 and a chief filtration man at 1800. The superintendent will oversee water conditions 24 hours daily though on duty eight hours. Officials shifted staff to limit extra cost to about 900. Mayor Jones opposed the expense, but the ordinance passed.
Myron Kinney, 78, longtime Sheffield resident and cousin of Hubert Day, died this morning at 7 o'clock at the home of W. W. Seddon on Howe street. A former local, he spent nearly 20 years in Vermont. Death due to dropsy and heart failure. Funeral services Thursday at 1 30 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Parlors with Rev J H Grant officiating. Burial in Sheffield cemetery.
Lorain on February 6 is urged by Moehle to adopt a charter form of government and plans to raise the issue at the next council meeting. The Chamber of Commerce has favored the idea for some time but has not acted. In Columbus on February 6, Captain C. J. Houser resigns after 15 years as an officer at the boys industrial school.
