Elyria to Pilot Family Education Court Truancy Program
Lorain County plans a fall pilot of Family Education Court in Elyria Schools for grades four through six. The 12 week program pairs students with parents, teachers, counselors, and a free case manager from Children Services to address truancy issues.

Lorain Man Indicted in Machete Attack on Woman
Demetrius J. Thomas of West 71st Street was indicted on felonious assault and domestic violence charges for allegedly stabbing Twila Mosby in the chest and arm with a machete on April 20. He faces up to eight years in prison and a $15 000 fine. Mosby received treatment at Community Health Partners and MetroHealth. Witness Marilyn Zeidner of Genesis House testified.
