A two alarm fire at the Service Overall Supply Co. building on East 35th Street and Elyria Avenue in Lorain destroyed the structure. The blaze, starting after 7:30 p.m. after an explosion, gutted the plant and destroyed uniforms and eight delivery vehicles while injuring one firefighter.
The C A Olsen Manufacturing Co strike, ongoing two weeks, could end tomorrow if a union company conference yields a resumption of operations. IFW members voted to return to work unconditionally this morning, while management seeks a signed memorandum canceling all issues. Carr and Donovan report readiness to meet at 1 30 p m for a written union statement and work procedure.
Secretary of State says U S will not alter course over Soviet threats as Israel Gaza actions and UN sanctions loom. A.P.J. O'Donnell files to run for Lorain mayor, challenging incumbent J. Grant Keys in the May primaries with Keys seeking a third term.
Dag Hammarskjold reported to the seven nation Advisory Committee that he has begun negotiations with Israel on withdrawal of troops from the Gaza Strip and Gulf of Aqaba. He promised further meetings as talks continue with Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban and convened officials in New York.
Former at large council member O'Donnell, first elected in 1955 on the Republican ticket, says Keys has become a Democratic leader and that he must campaign against Keys. He cites bipartisan votes and clashes over Route 57 bridge plans and other reforms.
Pittsburgh based United Steelworkers president David J. McDonald denies offering a $50,000 a year job to rival Don Ald Rarick. Rarick, head of a rebel dues protest committee, alleged the bribe during a Dec. 21 motel meetup south of Pittsburgh. McDonald calls the charge a fantastic unfounded lie as he stays in Miami for AFL-CIO meetings.
In Moscow the Supreme Soviet meetings began with 11 members in attendance as Gen. Ivan Serov, chief of Soviet security, reportedly suffers a blood disease. The two houses prepared to convene a joint session while observers expected few surprises. Dmitri Shepilov appeared publicly for the first time since illness two weeks earlier.
A mother left home to borrow a cigarette as a blaze consumed a three room dwelling. Four children aged three and two died in their beds while Coast Guard units and a freighter conducted a search for survivors.

Dr. Wesley Suhr, Elyria dentist, was elected to the Elyria City Board of Education to fill the unexpired term of Howard C. Gollmar at a special meeting opened by Pierre Smith. Suhr, a Napoleon native, is active in Kiwanis, Masons, the YMCA, Boy Scouts, the Elyria Lite Symphony and local clubs. he and his wife Jean live at 1015 Park Ave with two children.
Morvice Overall Supply Co. fire at Lorain faced a blaze last night. A first aid class for the men alerted 20 firefighters at No. 2 station when the second alarm rang. Fire Chief Elmer Stough crediting the quick phone call for saving minutes and aiding the response.
East Berlin officials report that a plot by Hum boldt University students to overthrow the Soviet Zone government was thwarted. Walter Ulbricht announced at a Central Committee meeting that student sympathizers with Hungarian rebels planned street actions in Berlin but were deterred by Communist Party and paramilitary groups.
An elderly invalid woman died in a Williamsburg grocery fire that destroyed the store. Her son-in-law and the owner Frank Ott tried to re enter the blaze to rescue her as two dogs and three children escaped to safety. The Oberlin Council approved a fire extinguishing system after a light plant was installed following the blaze.
Frank Beaver, 23, of Utica, died at Mercy Hospital in Mt. Vernon from injuries after a Saturday crash on a Licking County road between Utica and Newark. His car reportedly left the highway and struck a utility pole.
