Czech Prison Escape Hero Heads Home to New Jersey
John Hvasta 26, an American who fled Leopoldov prison near Bratislava and eluded Czech security for 21 months, boarded a Swiss airliner for Zurich then London and on to New York. Accompanied by two U.S. officials, he avoided questions from 30 reporters, saying he would speak after settling home in Hullside, New Jersey.Hvasta, born in Czechoslovakia, fled in 1952 after a three to ten year sentence for espionage. he reached the U.S. embassy in Prague in 1953 and is now returning to the United States via Pan American flight 100 from London.

Lorain Airman Unhurt As Jet Crashes Near Frederick
Lorain Ohio pilot Lt Joseph Szabo of the 63rd Interceptor Squadron at Waoorthsmith AFB escaped injury when his F 84 jet crashed six miles east of Frederick Michigan in heavy woods. A Coast Guard helicopter rescued him within minutes after he ejected from the burning aircraft.

Elyria will establish a traffic school starting Saturday March 6 to run as a permanent program. Mayor J Grant Keys says the program will provide a positive approach to correcting traffic problems and may suspend part of fines for violators who attend all three sessions. Police Chief J E Boggs and Sgt C L Cordrey with Safety Service Director Michael J Lotko organized the plan, with sessions 2 to 4 pm Saturdays at City Hall Council Chambers open to the public. The course covers permits registration vehicle conditions speed signs emergency vehicle right of way parking and DUI laws with demonstrations using a magnetized carboard map and a large metal board. The program aims to educate visitors about Ohio traffic laws for both residents and newcomers.
