Elyria Firemen Fight Six Grass And Home Fires
Elyria firemen answered six alarms yesterday with four grass fires added to a grass fire and a small home fire that had been set earlier. The largest blaze burned 14 acres in a stubble field on West River Road near a barn at L. G. Bliss’s farm in Elyria Township. Neighbors aided in the effort. crews were on scene about an hour. Earlier, a grass fire of over an acre on Wesley Avenue burned, along with a five or six acre blaze in Musses Avenue area. Fires blamed on matches and a boy with matches were reported. This day brought the highest alarm total for the Elyria Fire Department to date, with 50 days tally reaching 146.
