A plane crash in a raging blizzard incinerated eight aboard as fuel ignited. Sandblom’s body was crushed under engines. six others lay at the front. Only Mrs. F H Fickersen of San Diego escaped. Appedeca led rescuers to the wreck near Fort Tejon, with the craft on a Bakersfield to Los Angeles route.
In California's Tehachapi area, the eight airliner victims were found crushed and charred after the Century-Pacific crash. Searchers located the wreckage on a 2,000 foot hillside four miles west of Fort Tejon. pilot J V Sandblom is believed unable to switch off ignition. Indian range rider Paul Appaden located the wreckage.
