Train rams fire truck injuring three in Ohio crash

A fire engine collided with a freight train on Abbe Road in Sheffield Village while responding to a truck fire. One firefighter was seriously hurt and trapped crew escaped before the truck exploded. Lt Angel Martinez was listed in serious condition after being thrown from the cab. Fireman Anthony Spierings and James Klingshirn survived with injuries. Klingshirn required stitches, Spierings avoided worse harm by leaping to safety moments before the blast.

Groundhogs Ripples Predict Snow in Elyria Area

Snow came a bit late for the Elyria Lorain County region with about an inch on the ground by 10 am from Ray Diederich. Winds 15 to 20 mph caused drifting while Hopkins Airport logged four inches due to the same weather front moving east and south, creating slippery roads and several minor weather related mishaps along the night.

Gotsis jury debates verdict or mistrial ruling

The George Gotsis trial jury worked late to decide if a verdict could be reached. If unable to decide, Judge Adrian Bedzki would declare a mistrial and Gotsis would be released. The county prosecutor would then determine whether to pursue charges.
