Sunday services at the ME church gathered teams to raise about 10,000 toward the proposed building. Reports from the seminar group noted additions to the report of subscriptions, with pastor and committee members expressing optimism that the full goal would be met.
Members of a Baptist church voted by secret ballot to extend a call to Dr Wil Walker pastor of the first church in Danville to fill the pulpit left vacant by a recent resignation. Walker preached both services at Rochester on Sunday and the acceptance is awaited.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9 26 from Sudtro Funeral Home with Burner officiating. Interment in Mansfield.
In La Grange the Jones family aided efforts to dodge trial testimony for Adrian Buswell. Thomas Jones faced perjury charges after grand jury testimony. Eleanor Jones and Mrs Jones were found in Ashland and bonded to ensure attendance. Buswell’s trial is set to begin tomorrow morning.
Three inmates at the Missouri State Penitentiary sawed bars, killed guard James Hart, and fled after overpowering him. The guard lay bound with a gag. another guard was shot at as the trio escaped. Posses search surrounding territory.
William Henson 83 a longtime carriage and wagon maker and Civil War veteran died at his home 326 W 6th Street Saturday evening. Born in England he moved to the United States at age 15 and later settled in Elina where he and Walham Crisp formed the Crisp and Henson firm serving the public for fifty years. Survived by sons Seward and Jay Henson and daughter Mrs F H Bingham of Buffalo NY funeral at his house Tuesday 2 PM Rev E B Redhed officiating private burial but the G A R will honor the service at the grave.

Henry Emmons aged 67 died at his home 211 East Eighth Street Sunday afternoon after a long illness. He leaves wife Lillian, daughter Marguerite Little, granddaughter Dorothy of Lorain, and sisters Mrs. J L Houghton of Elyria and Mrs. C A Bemis of Cleveland. Resided in Elyria most of life. Funeral Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from Jenkins Funeral Parlors on Second Street with private burial.
The Court of Appeals hears a dispute between paid Lorain firefighters and volunteer members over participation in the firemen pension fund. Lawyers argued law interpretation and fund management as witnesses had not yet been called. The case was taken under advisement for a later decision. Also, liquor appeal cases Dash Dormas and Nhit Malik from Lorain were taken under advisement.
